Cloudera (NYSE:CLDR) is coming up with two edge data management solutions - Cloudera Edge Management (CEM) and Cloudera Flow Management (CFM).

The solutions will allow Internet of Things (IoT) developers and architects to quickly act on data collection, flow and analytical aspects “to and from the edge.”

CEM, “an edge management solution for IoT and streaming use cases,” and CFM, “a no-code data ingestion and management solution,” will be included in Cloudera DataFlow (CDF).

An open source platform, CDF provides Edge2AI solutions, helping enterprises manage, transform and analyze data in real time. This means that the platform has the capability to analyze data and provide valuable insights as and when data flows into the business.

Cloudera Edge Management

CEM consists of two components - MiNiFi and Edge Flow Manager.

MiNiFi is an edge agent used to collect data from various sensors deployed in different use cases. It can collect both structured data like temperature and location and unstructured data like images. Additionally, Machine Learning (ML) can be applied at the edge as MiNiFi supports TensorFlow.

Notably, MiNiFi is available in both versions of Java and C++, with C++ having smaller capacity of 6MB.

Edge Flow Manager “manages, controls and monitors all the MiNiFi agents and allows enterprises to develop, deploy, run and monitor edge flow apps and ML models at the edge.” With the flexibility to develop different flow files, enterprises can mandate the edge agents to collect unique data points and analyze at the edge itself with ML models in place.

Cloudera Flow Management

Powered by Apache (NYSE:APA) NiFi, CFM provides easy data flow and management solutions without any requirement for code. Additionally, CFM can quickly integrate data that moves from one platform to the other, and secure sensitive information.

Notably, NiFi supported by more than 300 processors can handle all types of data and large amounts of data generated at a high speed. Additionally, Cloudera’s existing customers can combine NiFi with Cloudera Manager, Apache Impala and Apache Kudu.

New Solutions to Boost Customer Wins

Cloudera’s solutions will help enterprises quickly derive insights from continuous data flowing environments and initiate faster actions, giving them a competitive edge. Additionally, with IoT generating mostly unstructured data, CEM’s ability to decode it may help enterprises add business value.

Cloudera’s solutions strength is expected to help it win customers, which already boasts more than 2,000 clients. This, in turn, may help the Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) stock to strengthen its competitive moat amid increasing competition from the likes of Amazon's (NASDAQ:AMZN) cloud computing arm Amazon Web Services AWS, Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Azure and Alphabet’s (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google services.
