Overall operating expenses rose 21%, below revenue growth, as Sound Group continued to invest in AI technology, product innovation and global user growth.
Together, the results provide some of the clearest financial evidence yet of Sound Group’s strategy taking shape: an established revenue-generating online audio ecosystem alongside AI application business emerging as a new growth engine.
An Established Audio Ecosystem Continues to Evolve
Sound Group’s established online audio business remains an important part of its long-term strategy, with continued investment in the ecosystem connecting users, content creators and the platform. In the first half of 2026, the company expanded content offerings, enhanced product features and user experiences, and strengthened creator support and incentives. AI was also applied more broadly across content creation, personalized recommendations, platform operations and user acquisition, with these initiatives aimed at improving ecosystem efficiency and engagement while better serving users and creators.
From Voice AI Capabilities to Product Expansion
Sound Group’s expanding AI applications portfolio builds on its voice AI technology stack, spanning real-time communication, automatic speech recognition and text-to-speech. Its SoundSphere technology system brings these proprietary capabilities together with audio-processing intelligence and AI-enabled operational capabilities.
The company is translating that technology into practical applications across broader use cases, while developing more specialized products for specific user groups, broadening the reach of its portfolio while creating more differentiated, scenario-specific experiences.
AI Subscription Services Emerge as a Growth Engine
The Company’s AI application business continued to gain commercialization momentum. Subscription revenue rose 245% year over year to approximately US$8.3 million in first half 2026, primarily driven by continued expansion of the AI applications portfolio, and increased approximately 87% from second half 2025.
The expanding portfolio is also gaining traction internationally. According to Sensor Tower, as of Aug 26, 2026, one of its flagship apps achieved a single-day peak No. 1 ranking among the highest-grossing Utilities applications in 23 markets and ranked among the Top 10 in 83 markets. Sound Group’s applications have also received high ratings across major app stores. Alongside growing subscription revenue, that international traction adds further commercial validation for the expanding AI applications portfolio.
Building the Next Phase of Growth
Sound Group enters the next phase from a profitable base, ending June with US$106.3 million in cash and cash equivalents while continuing to invest in AI technology, product innovation and global expansion. The company continues to balance strategic investment with disciplined resource allocation and cost management.
AI is increasingly shaping both sides of Sound Group’s growth story. Within the established online audio ecosystem, the company is deepening AI integration across content creation, personalization, platform operations and user engagement. Across its AI applications portfolio, growing user adoption provides data that can improve model performance, personalization and user experience, in turn supporting product competitiveness.
The focus now is on refining products around user insights, accelerating product iteration and commercialization validation, and expanding the portfolio across more practical, high-frequency and scalable use cases, while continuing to strengthen Voice AI and real-time audio intelligence capabilities. The established online audio ecosystem continues to evolve and generate profitable growth, while the expanding AI applications portfolio is translating into rapidly growing subscription revenue and international product traction.
