Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transport, Telecoms and Services sectors led shares higher while losses in the Insurance, Consumer Staples and Finance & Investment sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 0.27%, while the ADX General index fell 0.07%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX), which rose 3.63% or 0.140 points to trade at 4.000 at the close. Meanwhile, Air Arabia PJSC (DU:AIRA) added 3.57% or 0.050 points to end at 1.450 and National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) was up 3.45% or 0.050 points to 1.500 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which fell 9.54% or 0.310 points to trade at 2.940 at the close. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) declined 2.93% or 0.019 points to end at 0.630 and Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) was down 1.42% or 0.008 points to 0.556.
The top performers on the ADX General were Buhaira Nat In (AD:ABNI) which rose 11.11% to 2.500, Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which was up 2.27% to settle at 0.9000 and Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) which gained 2.00% to close at 0.510.
The worst performers were Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was down 7.14% to 0.390 in late trade, Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) which lost 6.67% to settle at 4.90 and National Marine Dredging PSC (AD:NMDC) which was down 6.17% to 4.410 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 17 to 11 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 12 fell and 10 advanced, while 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) rose to 5-year highs; up 3.63% or 0.140 to 4.000. Shares in National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.45% or 0.050 to 1.500. Shares in Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) fell to 3-years lows; falling 6.67% or 0.35 to 4.90.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.07% or 0.03 to $41.89 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.25% or 0.11 to hit $43.80 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.04% or 13.85 to trade at $1348.35 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.21% to 4.0715.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 96.55.
