United Arab Emirates stocks lower at close of trade; DFM General down 1.36%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate & Construction, Services and Transport sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 1.36% to hit a new 1-month low, while the ADX General index fell 0.68%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK), which rose 2.62% or 0.050 points to trade at 1.960 at the close. Meanwhile, Takaful House (DU:DTKF) added 1.53% or 0.009 points to end at 0.599 and Dubai Islamic Bank (DU:DISB) was up 0.74% or 0.050 points to 6.850 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which fell 4.32% or 0.028 points to trade at 0.620 at the close. Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) declined 3.80% or 0.033 points to end at 0.835 and Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) was down 3.41% or 0.028 points to 0.793.

The top performers on the ADX General were Commercial Bank International (AD:CBI) which rose 10.00% to 1.65, Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was up 4.08% to settle at 2.55 and Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which gained 2.04% to close at 1.00.

The worst performers were Aldar Properti (AD:ALDR) which was down 3.70% to 2.60 in late trade, Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which lost 3.08% to settle at 0.630 and Sharjah Islami (AD:SIB) which was down 2.94% to 1.65 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 24 to 3 and 1 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 16 fell and 7 advanced, while 2 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.38% or 0.20 to $52.53 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.15% or 0.66 to hit $57.51 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.81% or 9.30 to trade at $1161.90 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED rose 0.42% to 4.0609.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 96.58.
