United Arab Emirates stocks lower at close of trade; DFM General down 1.15%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Finance & Investment and Real Estate & Construction sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 1.15%, while the ADX General index lost 0.94%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which rose 4.58% or 0.06 points to trade at 1.37 at the close. Meanwhile, Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) added 2.25% or 0.012 points to end at 0.546 and Emirates NBD PJSC (DU:ENBD) was up 1.82% or 0.150 points to 8.390 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Dubai Investments PJSC (DU:DINV), which fell 2.51% or 0.060 points to trade at 2.330 at the close. Emirate Integrated Telecom Co PJSC (DU:DU) declined 2.38% or 0.150 points to end at 6.160 and Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) was down 2.29% or 0.030 points to 1.280.

The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Islamic Bk (AD:ADIB) which rose 3.86% to 3.770, Natl Bk Of Ad (AD:NBAD) which was up 0.50% to settle at 10.05 and Fujairah Cement Industries Co PSC (AD:FCI) which unchanged 0.00% to close at 1.11.

The worst performers were Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which was down 7.45% to 0.8700 in late trade, Eshraq Properties Co PJSC (AD:ESHR) which lost 2.80% to settle at 1.0400 and Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which was down 2.06% to 0.9500 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 21 to 14 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 15 fell and 6 advanced, while 6 ended unchanged.

Shares in Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.58% or 0.06 to 1.37.

Crude oil for January delivery was down 1.30% or 0.69 to $52.29 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.24% or 0.69 to hit $55.03 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.37% or 4.25 to trade at $1163.25 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.01% to 3.6728, while EUR/AED rose 0.11% to 3.9075.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 100.97.
