United Arab Emirates stocks higher at close of trade; DFM General up 0.27%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Services and Transport sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 0.27%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.86%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Oman Insurance Company P.S.C. (DU:OIC), which rose 4.17% or 0.060 points to trade at 1.500 at the close. Meanwhile, Dubai Parks and Resorts PJSC (DU:DUBA) added 3.31% or 0.040 points to end at 1.250 and National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) was up 1.77% or 0.020 points to 1.150 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which fell 1.57% or 0.008 points to trade at 0.502 at the close. Union Properties PJSC (DU:UPRO) declined 1.54% or 0.013 points to end at 0.830 and Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) was down 1.45% or 0.009 points to 0.612.

The top performers on the ADX General were Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which rose 14.86% to 2.01, Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was up 4.75% to settle at 3.09 and Emirates Telec (AD:ETEL) which gained 2.51% to close at 18.35.

The worst performers were Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was down 8.82% to 0.310 in late trade, Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) which lost 4.61% to settle at 6.00 and Methaq (AD:METH) which was down 4.55% to 0.840 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 12 to 9 and 6 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 10 rose and 8 declined, while 6 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for May delivery was down 2.08% or 0.82 to $38.57 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 2.37% or 0.97 to hit $39.90 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.17% or 2.10 to trade at $1219.90 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED rose 0.57% to 4.1193.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 95.87.
