Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were higher after the close on Sunday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Banking and Transport sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 0.01%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.75%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which rose 4.38% or 0.06 points to trade at 1.43 at the close. Meanwhile, SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) added 3.27% or 0.050 points to end at 1.580 and Emaar Malls (DU:EMAA) was up 2.66% or 0.070 points to 2.700 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Oman Insurance Company P.S.C. (DU:OIC), which fell 7.14% or 0.100 points to trade at 1.300 at the close. Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) declined 2.19% or 0.030 points to end at 1.340 and National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) was down 1.95% or 0.040 points to 2.010.

The top performers on the ADX General were Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) which rose 11.11% to 0.600, Abu Dhabi National Hotels Co (AD:ADNH) which was up 10.38% to settle at 3.19 and Gulf Medical Projects Co PSC (AD:GMPC) which gained 4.53% to close at 3.00.

The worst performers were Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which was down 3.70% to 1.300 in late trade, Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) which lost 3.61% to settle at 4.81 and Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was down 2.86% to 1.70 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 16 to 14 and 9 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 15 rose and 9 declined, while 3 ended unchanged.

Shares in Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA) rose to 52-week highs; rising 4.38% or 0.06 to 1.43. Shares in Oman Insurance Company P.S.C. (DU:OIC) fell to all time lows; losing 7.14% or 0.100 to 1.300. Shares in Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) rose to 52-week highs; rising 11.11% or 0.060 to 0.600. Shares in Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) fell to 3-years lows; losing 3.61% or 0.18 to 4.81. Shares in Gulf Medical Projects Co PSC (AD:GMPC) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 4.53% or 0.13 to 3.00.

Crude oil for February delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $52.95 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 2.41% or 1.30 to hit $55.32 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.61% or 6.85 to trade at $1136.65 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED rose 0.33% to 3.8388.

The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 102.92.
