Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Forestry & Paper, Industrial Transportation and General Industrial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 1.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Legal & General Group PLC (LON:LGEN), which rose 1.21% or 3.10 points to trade at 259.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Direct Line Insurance Group PLC (LON:DLGD) added 1.09% or 3.50 points to end at 325.10 and Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) was up 1.03% or 1.78 points to 174.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hammerson PLC (LON:HMSO), which fell 5.99% or 27.30 points to trade at 428.30 at the close. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) declined 5.67% or 115.00 points to end at 1913.00 and Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK) was down 5.38% or 270.00 points to 4750.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1490 to 602 and 304 ended unchanged.
Shares in Hammerson PLC (LON:HMSO) fell to 5-year lows; falling 5.99% or 27.30 to 428.30.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.05% or 0.60 to $1203.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.03% or 1.55 to hit $74.86 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.34% or 1.16 to trade at $85.13 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.55% to 1.3011, while EUR/GBP fell 0.33% to 0.8841.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 95.46.
