Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Beverage, Pharmaceuticals & Biotech and Food & Drug Retailers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Experian PLC (LON:EXPN), which rose 3.02% or 76.00 points to trade at 2594.00 at the close. Meanwhile, AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN) added 2.94% or 215.00 points to end at 7533.00 and Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK) was up 2.87% or 156.00 points to 5584.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO), which fell 1.91% or 21.20 points to trade at 1087.60 at the close. Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) declined 1.38% or 2.65 points to end at 189.60 and Just Eat (LON:JE) was down 1.27% or 10.00 points to 775.80.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1261 to 868 and 190 ended unchanged.
Shares in Experian PLC (LON:EXPN) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.02% or 76.00 to 2594.00. Shares in AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.94% or 215.00 to 7533.00.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.57% or 8.70 to $1538.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.58% or 0.32 to hit $54.78 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.11% or 0.66 to trade at $58.59 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.76% to 1.2064, while EUR/GBP rose 0.52% to 0.9093.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 98.947.
