Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Industrial Metals & Mining and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.68%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Standard Life Aberdeen PLC (LON:SLA), which rose 4.79% or 14.70 points to trade at 321.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) added 3.92% or 12.30 points to end at 326.30 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 3.47% or 58.20 points to 1736.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK), which fell 9.78% or 574.00 points to trade at 5296.00 at the close. Capita PLC (LON:CPI) declined 4.15% or 5.35 points to end at 123.50 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) was down 4.11% or 87.00 points to 2031.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1155 to 835 and 329 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.20% or 2.40 to $1220.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.46% or 0.32 to hit $69.33 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.94% or 0.69 to trade at $74.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.02% to 1.2946, while EUR/GBP rose 0.32% to 0.8954.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 94.97.
