Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Food Producers, Forestry & Paper and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.49%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 2.10% or 23.00 points to trade at 1117.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Micro Focus International (LON:MCRO) added 1.95% or 40.00 points to end at 2089.00 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 1.58% or 23.00 points to 1481.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV), which fell 2.50% or 15.00 points to trade at 585.50 at the close. Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG) declined 2.43% or 10.00 points to end at 401.00 and Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) was down 2.06% or 60.00 points to 2855.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 921 to 917 and 474 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.87% or 10.56 to $1227.86 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.89% or 0.41 to hit $46.49 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.93% or 0.45 to trade at $48.87 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.08% to 1.3080, while EUR/GBP fell 0.58% to 0.8758.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.55% at 95.03.
