Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Forestry & Paper, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Construction & Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.41%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF), which rose 2.57% or 75.00 points to trade at 2997.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) added 2.42% or 4.95 points to end at 209.15 and Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) was up 1.72% or 10.00 points to 592.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which fell 2.52% or 7.75 points to trade at 299.65 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 2.45% or 36.00 points to end at 1436.00 and Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) was down 2.21% or 35.00 points to 1551.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1199 to 702 and 433 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.15% or 1.82 to $1223.52 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.19% or 0.99 to hit $46.12 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.95% or 0.93 to trade at $48.72 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.20% to 1.2960, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.8802.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 95.66.
