Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Oil & Gas Producers and General Industrial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Prudential PLC (LON:PRU), which rose 3.03% or 50.50 points to trade at 1715.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Unilever PLC (LON:ULVR) added 1.32% or 52.50 points to end at 4042.00 and Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) was up 1.28% or 4.30 points to 341.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pearson PLC (LON:PSON), which fell 2.90% or 19.50 points to trade at 652.50 at the close. Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) declined 2.53% or 6.10 points to end at 235.20 and Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) was down 2.16% or 7.30 points to 330.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1141 to 797 and 429 ended unchanged.
Shares in Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.03% or 50.50 to 1715.00. Shares in Unilever PLC (LON:ULVR) rose to all time highs; up 1.32% or 52.50 to 4042.00.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.05% or 0.55 to $1203.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.76% or 0.85 to hit $47.55 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.32% or 0.68 to trade at $50.67 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.43% to 1.2165, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8741.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 101.40.
