Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Industrial Metals & Mining and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.67% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT), which rose 5.74% or 95.00 points to trade at 1751.00 at the close. Meanwhile, CRH PLC (LON:CRH) added 4.93% or 134.00 points to end at 2854.00 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was up 4.88% or 15.70 points to 337.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG), which fell 1.83% or 7.60 points to trade at 407.00 at the close. Babcock International Group PLC (LON:BAB) declined 1.21% or 11.50 points to end at 936.50 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) was down 1.13% or 85.00 points to 7425.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1462 to 546 and 346 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.55% or 6.95 to $1246.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.11% or 0.06 to hit $53.95 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $56.48 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.46% to 1.2323, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.8577.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 101.55.
