Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Industrial Metals & Mining and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.91% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD), which rose 3.96% or 8.35 points to trade at 219.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 2.90% or 44.00 points to end at 1563.00 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) was up 2.68% or 81.00 points to 3100.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which fell 8.50% or 123.00 points to trade at 1324.00 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 7.25% or 95.00 points to end at 1215.00 and Micro Focus International (LON:MCRO) was down 3.04% or 76.00 points to 2424.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1090 to 867 and 467 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.58% or 7.13 to $1237.13 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $48.84 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.06 to trade at $51.88 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.13% to 1.2912, while EUR/GBP rose 0.80% to 0.8576.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.67% at 98.15.
