Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Industrial Engineering and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which rose 8.04% or 171.00 points to trade at 2297.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) added 2.86% or 9.05 points to end at 325.10 and Babcock International Group PLC (LON:BAB) was up 2.29% or 20.50 points to 914.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Informa Plc (LON:INF), which fell 1.30% or 8.50 points to trade at 643.00 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 1.30% or 15.00 points to end at 1141.00 and Old Mutual PLC (LON:OML) was down 1.20% or 2.70 points to 222.80.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 957 to 947 and 487 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.24% or 2.85 to $1199.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.61% or 0.77 to hit $48.49 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.30% or 0.66 to trade at $51.58 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.52% to 1.2214, while EUR/GBP fell 0.21% to 0.8708.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 101.34.
