Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Information Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 1.43% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Inventec Besta (TW:8201), which rose 10.00% or 0.78 points to trade at 8.58 at the close. Meanwhile, Nafco (TW:3004) added 9.92% or 5.00 points to end at 55.40 and Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472) was up 9.76% or 1.45 points to 16.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Basso Indu (TW:1527), which fell 10.00% or 6.40 points to trade at 57.60 at the close. J Touch (TW:3584) declined 9.89% or 0.73 points to end at 6.65 and Chiu Ting Mach (TW:1539) was down 9.81% or 3.70 points to 34.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 702 to 134 and 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nafco (TW:3004) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.92% or 5.00 to 55.40.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 1.06% or 0.47 to $43.74 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $47.81 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.38% or 4.10 to trade at $1092.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.46% to 32.696, while TWD/CNY rose 0.26% to 0.1946.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 99.06.
