Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Iron & Steel and Cement sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 1.31% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Everfocus Elec (TW:5484), which rose 10.00% or 0.39 points to trade at 4.29 at the close. Meanwhile, Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418) added 9.20% or 0.38 points to end at 4.51 and Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) was up 6.67% or 0.56 points to 8.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Paragon Tech (TW:3518), which fell 9.87% or 2.20 points to trade at 20.10 at the close. Genesis Photon (TW:3383) declined 9.85% or 0.52 points to end at 4.76 and Cheer Time (TW:3229) was down 9.42% or 1.45 points to 13.95.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 629 to 152 and 68 ended unchanged.
Shares in Paragon Tech (TW:3518) fell to all time lows; down 9.87% or 2.20 to 20.10. Shares in Genesis Photon (TW:3383) fell to all time lows; losing 9.85% or 0.52 to 4.76.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.02% or 0.01 to $43.66 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.16% or 0.07 to hit $44.90 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.65% or 8.45 to trade at $1283.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.42% to 32.337, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.1999.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 93.08.
