Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Cement and Trading & Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.75%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Genesis Photon (TW:3383), which rose 10.00% or 0.45 points to trade at 4.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Evergreen Mari (TW:2603) added 10.00% or 1.20 points to end at 13.20 and Daxin (TW:5234) was up 9.91% or 3.20 points to 35.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Epileds Tech (TW:4956), which fell 9.84% or 2.50 points to trade at 22.90 at the close. Cci (TW:6230) declined 5.95% or 11.00 points to end at 174.00 and Ennoconn (TW:6414) was down 5.59% or 29.50 points to 498.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 487 to 260 and 103 ended unchanged.
Shares in Daxin (TW:5234) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.91% or 3.20 to 35.50.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.49% or 0.22 to $44.92 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.36% or 0.17 to hit $47.06 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.06% or 0.75 to trade at $1310.65 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.01% to 31.726, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2108.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 96.06.
