Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Iron & Steel and Cement sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Green Energy (TW:3519), which rose 10.00% or 1.80 points to trade at 19.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) added 10.00% or 0.90 points to end at 9.90 and Accton (TW:2345) was up 9.94% or 2.55 points to 28.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Candmark (TW:5259), which fell 9.99% or 0.73 points to trade at 6.58 at the close. Yu Foung Intl (TW:1438) declined 7.24% or 0.36 points to end at 4.61 and Umec (TW:2413) was down 7.05% or 1.10 points to 14.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 611 to 228 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in Candmark (TW:5259) fell to all time lows; losing 9.99% or 0.73 to 6.58. Shares in Accton (TW:2345) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 9.94% or 2.55 to 28.20.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.74% or 0.32 to $42.97 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.42% or 0.20 to hit $46.30 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.33% or 3.60 to trade at $1078.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.16% to 32.511, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.1962.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 99.51.
