Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Semiconductor and Paper & Pulp sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were JSL Construction & Development Co Ltd (TW:2540), which rose 9.98% or 2.75 points to trade at 30.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Powertech Industrial Co Ltd (TW:3296) added 9.97% or 1.95 points to end at 21.50 and Jui Li Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1512) was up 9.92% or 1.25 points to 13.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348), which fell 9.89% or 3.95 points to trade at 36.00 at the close. Genesis Photonics Inc (TW:3383) declined 6.32% or 0.18 points to end at 2.67 and Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413) was down 4.18% or 0.55 points to 12.60.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 386 to 361 and 132 ended unchanged.
Shares in JSL Construction & Development Co Ltd (TW:2540) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.98% or 2.75 to 30.30. Shares in Jui Li Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1512) rose to 5-year highs; up 9.92% or 1.25 to 13.85.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.81% or 0.35 to $43.73 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.87% or 0.40 to hit $46.44 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.41% or 5.13 to trade at $1251.53 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.08% to 30.351, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2253.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 97.01.
