Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Electronic Products Distribution, Transport and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.84%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Para (TW:6226), which rose 10.00% or 0.73 points to trade at 8.03 at the close. Meanwhile, Shuttle (TW:2405) added 9.99% or 0.81 points to end at 8.92 and Roo Hsing (TW:4414) was up 9.93% or 1.35 points to 14.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Jye Tai (TW:6165), which fell 7.14% or 0.50 points to trade at 6.50 at the close. Hong Yi Fiber (TW:1452) declined 6.85% or 2.80 points to end at 38.10 and Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906) was down 6.42% or 1.80 points to 26.25.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 529 to 312.
Shares in Jye Tai (TW:6165) fell to 52-week lows; falling 7.14% or 0.50 to 6.50.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.16% or 0.10 to $60.17 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.13% or 0.08 to hit $63.57 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.21% or 2.50 to trade at $1175.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.32% to 30.948, while TWD/CNY fell 0.15% to 0.2005.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 95.53.
