Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Trading & Consumer Goods, Optoelectronic and Textile sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.65% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472), which rose 10.00% or 1.05 points to trade at 11.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Sunonwealth (TW:2421) added 9.98% or 2.15 points to end at 23.70 and Taliang (TW:3167) was up 9.94% or 2.65 points to 29.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Candmark (TW:5259), which fell 7.33% or 0.22 points to trade at 2.78 at the close. Super Dragon (TW:9955) declined 6.34% or 1.10 points to end at 16.25 and Choice Develop (TW:9929) was down 5.83% or 0.65 points to 10.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 495 to 247 and 111 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.19% or 0.09 to $46.56 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $47.61 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.02% or 0.25 to trade at $1327.65 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.00% to 31.986, while TWD/CNY rose 0.29% to 0.2082.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 96.61.
