Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Textile and Optoelectronic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tatung Co Ltd (TW:2371), which rose 9.79% or 0.95 points to trade at 10.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Plotech (TW:6141) added 9.72% or 1.05 points to end at 11.85 and Mercuries Data (TW:2427) was up 7.92% or 0.58 points to 7.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tonlin Dept (TW:2910), which fell 9.24% or 3.05 points to trade at 29.95 at the close. Falcon Power Co Ltd (TW:1516) declined 4.74% or 0.95 points to end at 19.10 and Coaster International Co Ltd (TW:2936) was down 4.16% or 2.05 points to 47.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 421 to 336 and 116 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tatung Co Ltd (TW:2371) rose to 3-years highs; rising 9.79% or 0.95 to 10.65. Shares in Plotech (TW:6141) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.72% or 1.05 to 11.85.
Crude oil for February delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $51.96 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $54.94 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.19% or 2.25 to trade at $1187.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.62% to 31.903, while TWD/CNY rose 0.14% to 0.2176.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 101.69.
