Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Construction & Engineering, Telecoms and Plantations sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share rose 0.34%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL), which rose 12.50% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.900 at the close. Meanwhile, Kelsey Developments PLC (CM:KDL) added 9.07% or 4.30 points to end at 51.70 and Mercantile Shipping Company PLC (CM:MSL) was up 8.60% or 7.10 points to 89.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND), which fell 18.73% or 311.20 points to trade at 1350.00 at the close. Trans Asia Hotels PLC (CM:TRAN) declined 10.00% or 9.00 points to end at 81.00 and Chilaw Finance PLC (CM:CHIL) was down 6.96% or 1.60 points to 21.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 113 to 56 and 54 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 2.18% or 0.96 to $45.01 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 2.01% or 0.92 to hit $46.80 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.45% or 5.95 to trade at $1324.15 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.40% to 189.860, while USD/LKR rose 0.25% to 146.260.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 95.90.
