Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Information Technology, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals and Power & Energy sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share rose 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC (CM:ASPH), which rose 21.00% or 63.00 points to trade at 363.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Royal Palms Beach Hotels PLC (CM:RPBH) added 20.28% or 5.80 points to end at 34.40 and Hapugastenne Plantations PLC (CM:HAPU) was up 16.29% or 2.90 points to 20.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were City Housing and Real Estate Company PLC (CM:CHOU), which fell 10.71% or 1.20 points to trade at 10.00 at the close. Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL) declined 9.09% or 0.100 points to end at 1.000 and Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL) was down 8.62% or 198.20 points to 2100.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 102 to 58 and 61 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.30% or 0.54 to $41.06 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.36% or 0.59 to hit $42.94 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.19% or 2.55 to trade at $1354.95 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.19% to 191.730, while USD/LKR fell 0.51% to 145.040.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 95.66.
