Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Motors, Trading and Investment Trust sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.10% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Udapussellawa Plantations PLC (CM:UDPL), which rose 16.41% or 3.20 points to trade at 22.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Lankem Ceylon PLC (CM:LCEY) added 13.24% or 9.80 points to end at 83.80 and Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC (CM:ASPH) was up 12.07% or 35.00 points to 325.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO), which fell 24.62% or 640.10 points to trade at 1960.00 at the close. Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC (CM:ASHO) declined 19.71% or 298.30 points to end at 1215.10 and Agalawatte Plantations PLC (CM:AGAL) was down 16.67% or 3.80 points to 19.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 100 to 78 and 46 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 2.93% or 1.05 to $36.94 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 2.38% or 0.90 to hit $38.77 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.25% or 3.10 to trade at $1226.50 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.60% to 204.275, while USD/LKR fell 0.20% to 144.315.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.32% at 94.91.
