Investing.com – Spain stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Building & Construction and Telecoms & IT sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 1.83% to hit a new 3-years low.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Bankia (MC:BKIA), which rose 6.87% or 0.039 points to trade at 0.607 at the close. Meanwhile, Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL) added 5.83% or 0.49 points to end at 8.82 and Endesa (MC:ELE) was up 5.04% or 0.815 points to 16.980 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Int.Airl.Grp (MC:ICAG), which fell 17.93% or 0.900 points to trade at 4.118 at the close. Ferrovial (MC:FER) declined 6.86% or 1.175 points to end at 15.955 and Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) was down 4.77% or 0.200 points to 3.996.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 154 to 56 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Int.Airl.Grp (MC:ICAG) fell to 52-week lows; down 17.93% or 0.900 to 4.118. Shares in Ferrovial (MC:FER) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.86% or 1.175 to 15.955.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.19% or 2.45 to $1324.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.98% or 1.42 to hit $46.22 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 2.88% or 1.41 to trade at $47.63 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.79% to 1.1029, while EUR/GBP rose 2.81% to 0.8354.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.91% at 96.50.
