Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.72%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Indra A (MC:IDR), which rose 3.84% or 0.351 points to trade at 9.494 at the close. Meanwhile, Gas Natural (MC:GAS) added 3.33% or 0.570 points to end at 17.665 and Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) was up 2.97% or 0.585 points to 20.260 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banco Popular (MC:POP), which fell 4.00% or 0.048 points to trade at 1.151 at the close. Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) declined 1.69% or 0.070 points to end at 4.080 and B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) was down 1.42% or 0.017 points to 1.179.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 132 to 66 and 20 ended unchanged.
Shares in Banco Popular (MC:POP) fell to all time lows; losing 4.00% or 0.048 to 1.151.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.56% or 7.45 to $1319.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.21% or 1.10 to hit $48.78 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 2.34% or 1.20 to trade at $50.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.47% to 1.1072, while EUR/GBP rose 0.72% to 0.8346.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.54% at 96.21.
