Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Consumer Goods and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.19%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Bankia (MC:BKIA), which rose 3.08% or 0.021 points to trade at 0.703 at the close. Meanwhile, Telefonica (MC:TEF) added 1.75% or 0.154 points to end at 8.931 and Gamesa (MC:GAM) was up 1.46% or 0.265 points to 18.465 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were B. Sabadell (MC:SABE), which fell 7.46% or 0.096 points to trade at 1.190 at the close. ACS Const. (MC:ACS) declined 1.96% or 0.510 points to end at 25.580 and Banco Popular (MC:POP) was down 1.69% or 0.022 points to 1.278.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 101 to 95 and 18 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gamesa (MC:GAM) rose to 5-year highs; rising 1.46% or 0.265 to 18.465.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.76% or 10.05 to $1320.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.79% or 0.80 to hit $43.95 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.73% or 0.80 to trade at $45.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.58% to 1.0962, while EUR/GBP rose 0.47% to 0.8372.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.62% at 97.54.
