Sibanye extends union wage deals to all employees, likely ending AMCU strike

Sibanye-Stillwater (NYSE:SBGL) +4.4% pre-market on news it has extended the wage agreement reached with some unions to cover all of its South African mining workforce, potentially ending a strike that has seen nearly half its employees down tools since mid-November.
SBGL says the extension means all members of the AMCU union, which called the strike, and employees not represented by a union are bound by the agreement, and all employees are required to report for work on Dec. 15.
SBGL signed a three-year wage deal with three other unions in November, but talks with the AMCU, which represents ~43% of the miner’s employees, broke down, triggering the strike.
