Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Industrials and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 1.59%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco BPI (LS:BBPI), which rose 4.90% or 0.0590 points to trade at 1.2630 at the close. Meanwhile, Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP) added 4.20% or 0.4600 points to end at 11.4100 and Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) was up 3.83% or 0.0690 points to 1.8690 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which fell 3.26% or 0.0013 points to trade at 0.0386 at the close. Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) declined 2.17% or 0.0030 points to end at 0.1350 and Montepio (LS:MPIO) was down 1.53% or 0.009 points to 0.580.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 36 to 11 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Montepio (LS:MPIO) fell to all time lows; falling 1.53% or 0.009 to 0.580.
Brent oil for June delivery was up 0.58% or 0.23 to $40.08 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.03% or 0.01 to hit $38.27 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.61% or 7.50 to trade at $1230.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.32% to 1.1330, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.7872.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.35% at 94.84.
