Investing.com – Poland stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking, Basic Materials and Energy sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 lost 1.61%.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP), which rose 3.93% or 2.37 points to trade at 62.74 at the close. Meanwhile, Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW) added 1.73% or 1.12 points to end at 66.02 and LPP SA (WA:LPPP) was up 1.19% or 60.15 points to 5110.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bank Polska Kasa Opieki SA (WA:PEO), which fell 4.85% or 6.17 points to trade at 121.08 at the close. ING Bank Śląski SA (WA:INGP) declined 3.34% or 4.90 points to end at 141.95 and KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH) was down 3.31% or 2.42 points to 70.72.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 286 to 221 and 190 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bank Polska Kasa Opieki SA (WA:PEO) fell to 5-year lows; losing 4.85% or 6.17 to 121.08. Shares in Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.73% or 1.12 to 66.02.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.30% or 0.15 to $50.33 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.19% or 0.10 to hit $51.91 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.37% or 4.65 to trade at $1258.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.10% to 4.2909, while USD/PLN fell 0.46% to 3.8846.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.38% at 97.62.
