Investing.com – Poland stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Media and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 added 1.90%.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW), which rose 5.69% or 0.80 points to trade at 14.86 at the close. Meanwhile, KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH) added 4.85% or 3.39 points to end at 73.28 and Globe Trade Centre SA (WA:GTCP) was up 4.10% or 0.29 points to 7.36 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER), which fell 0.72% or 0.39 points to trade at 54.11 at the close. Asseco Poland SA (WA:ACPP) declined 0.63% or 0.38 points to end at 59.52 and Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) was down 0.34% or 0.01 points to 2.94.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 322 to 200 and 178 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.09% or 0.04 to $42.13 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.18% or 0.08 to hit $44.61 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 1.06% or 13.40 to trade at $1247.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.04% to 4.2918, while USD/PLN rose 0.98% to 3.8045.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.76% at 94.73.
