Investing.com – Poland stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Media, Oil & Gas and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 1.08%.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were Energa SA (WA:ENGP), which rose 6.46% or 0.47 points to trade at 7.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP) added 4.04% or 1.43 points to end at 36.80 and Cyfrowy Polsat SA (WA:CPS) was up 3.24% or 0.76 points to 24.21 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bank Zachodni WBK SA (WA:BZW), which fell 1.79% or 5.20 points to trade at 285.80 at the close. PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (WA:PGE) declined 1.59% or 0.15 points to end at 9.28 and Globe Trade Centre SA (WA:GTCP) was down 1.11% or 0.09 points to 8.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 290 to 246 and 182 ended unchanged.
Shares in Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 4.04% or 1.43 to 36.80. Shares in PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (WA:PGE) fell to all time lows; down 1.59% or 0.15 to 9.28.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.21% or 0.10 to $48.13 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.10% or 0.05 to hit $49.17 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.90% or 23.05 to trade at $1188.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.14% to 4.4245, while USD/PLN rose 0.81% to 4.1909.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.59% at 101.69.
