Investing.com – Poland stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Energy and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 0.63%.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (WA:PGE), which rose 3.69% or 0.44 points to trade at 12.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR) added 3.12% or 1.84 points to end at 60.83 and KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH) was up 3.00% or 3.18 points to 109.28 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Synthos SA (WA:SNS), which fell 2.41% or 0.110 points to trade at 4.450 at the close. LPP SA (WA:LPPP) declined 1.89% or 126.10 points to end at 6548.90 and Bank Zachodni WBK SA (WA:BZW) was down 1.66% or 5.75 points to 340.95.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 261 to 221 and 199 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.67% or 0.29 to $43.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.87% or 0.40 to hit $45.62 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.20% or 2.45 to trade at $1245.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.14% to 4.2540, while USD/PLN rose 0.06% to 3.8178.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 97.38.
