Investing.com – Philippines stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Services, Holding Firms and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Philippines, the PSEi Composite added 1.72% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the PSEi Composite were Bloomberry Resorts Corp (PS:BLOOM), which rose 7.93% or 0.470 points to trade at 6.400 at the close. Meanwhile, Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc (PS:AEV) added 5.27% or 3.900 points to end at 77.950 and Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PS:TEL) was up 2.93% or 60.00 points to 2110.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Philex Mining Corp (PS:PX), which fell 1.18% or 0.100 points to trade at 8.400 at the close. Ayala Land Inc (PS:ALI) declined 0.26% or 0.100 points to end at 38.700 and Alliance Global Group Inc (PS:AGI) was up 0.13% or 0.020 points to 15.200.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Philippines Stock Exchange by 122 to 64 and 49 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.45% or 5.90 to $1323.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.21% or 0.58 to hit $48.43 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.02% or 0.50 to trade at $49.76 a barrel.
CNY/PHP was down 0.39% to 7.0654, while USD/PHP fell 0.34% to 46.994.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 96.11.
