Investing.com – Peru stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the S&P Lima Juniors, Mining and Banking & Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lima, the S&P Lima General fell 2.05%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P Lima General were Alicorp (LM:ALI), which rose 1.56% or 0.100 points to trade at 6.500 at the close. Meanwhile, Backus Johnsto (LM:BKJi) added 0.14% or 0.020 points to end at 14.030 and Edegel (LM:EDE) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to 2.540 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Austral Group SAA (LM:AUG), which fell 13.04% or 0.150 points to trade at 1.000 at the close. Volcan Minera (LM:VOL_pb) declined 7.94% or 0.050 points to end at 0.580 and Panoro (LM:PML) was down 6.76% or 0.010 points to 0.138.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lima Stock Exchange by 28 to 3 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Backus Johnsto (LM:BKJi) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 0.14% or 0.020 to 14.030.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.01% or 0.44 to $44.09 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.07% or 0.03 to hit $44.95 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.84% or 10.80 to trade at $1281.00 a troy ounce.
USD/PEN was unchanged 0.00% to 3.3290, while EUR/PEN unchanged 0.00% to 3.8247.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 93.27.
