Investing.com – Peru stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Non-Metal Minerals, Industrials and Food & Beverages sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lima, the S&P Lima General lost 0.70%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P Lima General were Empresa Agroindustrial Pomalca (LM:POM), which rose 7.01% or 0.011 points to trade at 0.168 at the close. Meanwhile, Edegel (LM:EDE) added 2.04% or 0.050 points to end at 2.500 and Backus Johnsto (LM:BKJi) was up 0.37% or 0.050 points to 13.700 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Relapasa (LM:REL), which fell 8.11% or 0.018 points to trade at 0.204 at the close. Panoro (LM:PML) declined 7.77% or 0.008 points to end at 0.095 and Volcan Minera (LM:VOL_pb) was down 6.67% or 0.030 points to 0.420.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lima Stock Exchange by 21 to 4 and 7 ended unchanged.
Shares in Backus Johnsto (LM:BKJi) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 0.37% or 0.050 to 13.700.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 5.24% or 1.88 to $37.77 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.03% or 0.01 to hit $39.75 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.37% or 4.50 to trade at $1225.10 a troy ounce.
USD/PEN was unchanged 0.00% to 3.3925, while EUR/PEN unchanged 0.00% to 3.8274.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 94.49.
