Investing.com – Peru stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Non-Metal Minerals, Industrials and Food & Beverages sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lima, the S&P Lima General declined 0.44%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P Lima General were Southern Copper Corp (LM:SPC), which rose 4.16% or 1.40 points to trade at 35.03 at the close. Meanwhile, Cerro Verde (LM:CVE) added 1.93% or 0.400 points to end at 21.100 and Volcan Minera (LM:VOL_pb) was up 1.30% or 0.010 points to 0.780 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grana Y Monter (LM:GRA), which fell 14.57% or 0.510 points to trade at 2.990 at the close. Empresa Agroindustrial Pomalca (LM:POM) declined 5.56% or 0.010 points to end at 0.170 and Aceros Arequip (LM:AREi) was down 1.79% or 0.010 points to 0.550.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lima Stock Exchange by 16 to 7 and 10 ended unchanged.
Shares in Southern Copper Corp (LM:SPC) rose to 3-years highs; up 4.16% or 1.40 to 35.03. Shares in Volcan Minera (LM:VOL_pb) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.30% or 0.010 to 0.780.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 1.55% or 0.81 to $53.06 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 1.78% or 0.98 to hit $56.08 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.02% or 0.25 to trade at $1196.35 a troy ounce.
USD/PEN was down 0.98% to 3.3634, while EUR/PEN rose 0.83% to 3.5880.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 101.38.
