Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 1.46%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG), which rose 4.91% or 0.28 points to trade at 5.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) added 4.87% or 1.11 points to end at 22.02 and Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) was up 0.73% or 0.01 points to 1.34 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which fell 9.23% or 0.12 points to trade at 1.18 at the close. Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) declined 7.07% or 0.07 points to end at 0.92 and Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB) was down 4.99% or 5.87 points to 111.86.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 25 to 11 and 51 ended unchanged.
Shares in Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) fell to all time lows; down 9.23% or 0.12 to 1.18. Shares in Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) fell to all time lows; down 7.07% or 0.07 to 0.92.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 3.25% or 1.28 to $38.11 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 2.76% or 1.13 to hit $39.74 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 1.22% or 14.90 to trade at $1236.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.05% to 221.930, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 199.100.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.65% at 95.37.
