Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 lost 0.84%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT), which rose 1.33% or 0.02 points to trade at 1.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) added 0.16% or 0.01 points to end at 6.12 and Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB) was up 0.01% or 0.01 points to 141.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT), which fell 4.32% or 1.04 points to trade at 23.05 at the close. Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) declined 2.88% or 1.34 points to end at 46.32 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was down 2.22% or 0.15 points to 6.55.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 32 to 16 and 55 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.31% or 0.15 to $48.68 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.55% or 0.28 to hit $52.20 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.02% or 0.20 to trade at $1146.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.34% to 224.240, while USD/NGN fell 0.01% to 199.000.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 95.59.
