Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.73%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL), which rose 3.84% or 9.98 points to trade at 250.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) added 2.39% or 0.31 points to end at 13.30 and Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) was up 1.22% or 0.73 points to 60.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which fell 5.60% or 1.90 points to trade at 32.25 at the close. Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) declined 2.57% or 0.080 points to end at 3.050 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) was down 1.15% or 0.010 points to 0.860.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos by 21 to 14 and 63 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 2.03% or 0.98 to $49.35 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.85% or 0.95 to hit $52.37 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.25% or 3.15 to trade at $1252.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 3.06% to 331.180, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 316.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 99.88.
