Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.73%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT), which rose 0.04% or 0.01 points to trade at 24.72 at the close. Meanwhile, Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 6.72 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 17.09 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which fell 4.96% or 3.24 points to trade at 62.12 at the close. Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) declined 4.76% or 0.70 points to end at 14.00 and Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) was down 4.43% or 0.140 points to 3.020.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos by 19 to 8 and 55 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.11% or 0.06 to $53.95 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.05% or 0.03 to hit $56.48 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.55% or 6.95 to trade at $1246.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.97% to 331.390, while USD/NGN fell 0.86% to 315.250.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 101.55.
