Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Insurance and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.51%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB), which rose 2.10% or 0.34 points to trade at 16.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) added 1.76% or 14.99 points to end at 892.00 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was up 1.67% or 0.10 points to 6.11 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB), which fell 4.89% or 0.13 points to trade at 2.53 at the close. Dangflour (LAGOS:DANGFLO) declined 4.73% or 0.16 points to end at 3.22 and Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) was down 4.44% or 0.040 points to 0.860.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 27 to 16 and 49 ended unchanged.
Shares in Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.44% or 0.040 to 0.860.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 3.91% or 1.76 to $43.20 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 2.99% or 1.52 to hit $49.49 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.33% or 3.60 to trade at $1107.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 1.10% to 219.640, while USD/NGN fell 0.15% to 198.750.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 97.28.
