Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Insurance, Banking and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which rose 2.34% or 3.50 points to trade at 155.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) added 0.88% or 0.20 points to end at 23.01 and Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) was up 0.81% or 0.05 points to 6.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB), which fell 4.87% or 0.11 points to trade at 2.15 at the close. Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) declined 3.98% or 0.09 points to end at 2.16 and Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) was down 3.75% or 0.20 points to 5.14.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 25 to 20 and 52 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 3.22% or 1.54 to $49.35 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 3.15% or 1.61 to hit $52.95 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.48% or 5.50 to trade at $1143.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.22% to 224.740, while USD/NGN rose 0.09% to 199.200.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 95.44.
