Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 3.20% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which rose 9.52% or 0.080 points to trade at 0.920 at the close. Meanwhile, Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) added 8.79% or 0.080 points to end at 0.990 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) was up 6.48% or 1.64 points to 26.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO), which fell 4.99% or 2.42 points to trade at 46.08 at the close. Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 4.20 and Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) was 0.00% or 0.00 points to 16.48.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos by 50 to 9 and 38 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 3.73% or 1.71 to $47.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 3.47% or 1.69 to hit $50.42 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.38% or 4.64 to trade at $1220.74 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.25% to 342.100, while USD/NGN fell 0.71% to 314.750.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 99.45.
