Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Banking and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 1.66%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN), which rose 3.64% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.570 at the close. Meanwhile, Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) added 3.03% or 0.69 points to end at 23.78 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) was up 2.22% or 0.020 points to 0.920 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG), which fell 2.52% or 0.15 points to trade at 5.79 at the close. Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) declined 1.25% or 0.010 points to end at 0.790 and Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) was 0.00% or 0.00 points to 3.60.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 24 to 13 and 46 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.65% or 0.33 to $51.39 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.46% or 0.25 to hit $54.19 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.80% or 9.35 to trade at $1178.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.45% to 336.180, while USD/NGN rose 859.09% to 316.500.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 100.80.
