Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 1.33%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG), which rose 4.92% or 0.32 points to trade at 6.83 at the close. Meanwhile, Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) added 4.07% or 1.20 points to end at 30.70 and Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) was up 3.65% or 0.140 points to 3.980 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN), which fell 2.91% or 0.15 points to trade at 4.96 at the close. Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) declined 1.89% or 0.50 points to end at 25.70 and Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) was down 1.72% or 0.07 points to 4.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos by 25 to 13 and 63 ended unchanged.
Shares in Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.07% or 1.20 to 30.70.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.07% or 0.52 to $49.18 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.26% or 0.65 to hit $52.30 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 1.72% or 21.26 to trade at $1257.66 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.51% to 350.220, while USD/NGN fell 1.64% to 314.750.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.59% at 97.52.
