Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.65% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH), which rose 3.41% or 0.140 points to trade at 4.250 at the close. Meanwhile, Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) added 1.69% or 0.30 points to end at 18.01 and Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) was up 1.46% or 0.47 points to 32.79 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC), which fell 3.81% or 0.99 points to trade at 25.01 at the close. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) declined 2.27% or 0.020 points to end at 0.860 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was down 1.46% or 0.10 points to 6.75.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos by 27 to 19 and 65 ended unchanged.
Shares in Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) rose to all time highs; up 1.46% or 0.47 to 32.79.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.51% or 0.26 to $51.21 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.54% or 0.29 to hit $53.86 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.16% or 2.03 to trade at $1253.47 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.43% to 352.230, while USD/NGN rose 1.40% to 325.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 97.27.
